Re:RENEW2020, a manufacturing festival in Fukui, will be held from October 9 (Fri.) to 11 (Sun.)! A total of 76 companies from seven industries, including lacquerware, Washi paper, knives, chests, pottery, eyeglasses, and textiles, will be exhibiting in Sabae City, Echizen City, and Echizen Town in Fukui Prefecture, offering visitors an opportunity to experience the kind of craftsmanship that is not usually seen. This year’s RENEW will be called “Re:RENEW” with the implication that it will be more innovative, and in addition to the usual workshop tours and workshops, new challenges will be presented.
PROGRAMS
Local workshops are opened to the public, and visitors can experience manufacturing through tours and workshops. It is a hands-on market where you can listen to the thoughts of the craftsmen and see their skills up close. There will also be talks and events where you can learn more about the region.
On the day of RENEW, the online store will be open for a limited time and will sell limited edition items and bargains. Please purchase RENEW limited edition products that are only available on the day of RENEW at home.
3. RENEW TV
Videos of studio visits, workshops, talk events, etc. are available. The artisans themselves talk about their passion for their products, and show us around their studios directly, so that even those who cannot visit the site directly can experience RENEW in action.
4. RENEW LABORATORY
This year we have started a new project to develop products that explore the new possibilities of the production area. The products born from this project will be exhibited for the first time on the day of RENEW, and will be presented at the exhibition booth and online.
