Danielle Demetriou, a British writer and editor based in Tokyo, visited the Hokuriku region to meet the
upcoming artists and makers who started to change the world of “Kogei”. The first story features the
modern makers in Takaoka, including an exclusive interview with Kotaro Kunimoto,
who is the fourth generation owner of the century-old shop Lacquerware Kunimoto and the key figure
of the Takaoka Craft Ichiba-machi Festival which attracts more than 20,000 visitors every autumn.
