Sano Pottery / Shinichiro Sano
Founded in the latter half of the Taisho era, this is a main porcelain pottery for Kutani porcelain figurines that has continued for three generations since 1927. Sano Yosimatsu was a master who was finely honed towards his pottery skills at kilns in Kyoto and Kanazawa. Yukio who is a traditional craftsman learned the skilled from Kazumasa Numata, He is now the third generation Shinichiro, and his brother, Mitsuo, who is in charge of the all prototype making, is the sculptor who studied under Yuma Tokada. Sano Pottery / Shinichiro Sano mainly produces figurines like beckoning cats and owls. About 90% of white fabrication are made here, gallery and shop are open for anyone to visit.
