Founded in 1875, the studio has produced using both handmade and mechanical made paper. In handmade, they produce various types of Washi paper and Fusuma paper for sliding door (known for the high-quality wrinkle free fine paper). In the mechanical making, they have wide range of papers including “Torinoko” paper (hand-made liked washi of a lustrous, smooth, and intricate texture) and colored and pattern pressed papers. Besides being used as materials for crafts, it has also been used as an interior material for hotels and stores. The Studio strives to paper-making by introducing fresh new innovation to the traditional technique.
