Yanase Washi, a company located in Fukui Prefecture since 1975. The company has primarily produced washi paper for fusuma sliding doors using a traditional Echizen washi technique. However, as the demand for sliding doors has declined and more design concept are moving into westernized, Yanasewashi has decided to develop a completely new product. They start focusing effort on producing smaller paper size, paper ornaments and etc. Getting inspiration from nature, a beautiful pebbles by the riverside caught their eye by chance — it was then employed the company in making paper as the box’s form that are excellent in both aesthetic appeal and practical use. This new products have later offer a new statement that fit into the modern lifestyle.
